A Choired Taste will perform its premier concert tonight at 7 p.m. in Hall-Moser Theatre at the Portland Center of Arts Place.
The program will feature choral works from the 16th to the 21st centuries, including several madrigals, arrangements of American folk hymns, as well as more contemporary pieces. Admission to the concert is free of charge.
A Choired Taste is the new community choir of Arts Place. The choir is composed of Greg Ashley, Kiera Flowers, Loni Freeman, Ron Freeman, Gloria Green, Mandi McIver, Jessica Mills, Haley Moeder, Jan Rittenhouse, Jennifer Rupe and Claire Smith. A Choired Taste is directed by Eric Rogers. Yi-Hsuan “Nina” Lee is the pianist.
In addition to choral works, the performance will include a special feature, with Lee performing Chopin’s Ballade No. 4. The choir will be joined by Peter Vogler on flute for My Shepherd Will Supply My Need and Danny Boy.
