Arts Place’s Blackford County Arts Center, Hartford City, held its 6th annual Summerfest Juried Art Show reception/open house on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27th. On Friday evening, awards were presented to the top 4 winners as well as 10 honorable mention awards. Thirty eight artists from Indiana entered the Juried Art Show. 65 pieces out of 103 submitted art pieces were chosen to be in the show. Abby Leon, Paradigm Gallery Director of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, was the judge for the show.
The winners of the Blackford Juried Art Show are:
1st place – Lucia Valero “Self-Portrait” $400 prize.
2nd place – Carol Kennedy “Echoes” $300 prize.
3rd place – Carol Strock Wasson “Cloud” $200 prize.
4th place – Tom Brown “Woman in Red Dress” $100 prize.
Honorable Mention went to the 10 following artists (in no particular order):
Kathy Ayers – “Beach View”, Mary Ellen Bertram – “Hay There..Why The Long Face?”, Bob Brower – “Bridge at Brandywine Creek”, Patrick Kluesner – “Heron at Sunrise” and “The Street Where I Live”, Larry Fentz – “Passing Storm”, Sheila Piazza – “Hoosier Tropics”, Rodney Reveal – “Bear Creek”, Lisa Rush – Woodland Nymph”, and Jenny Moore Smith – “Carnaby Street Life”.

Regular Blackford County Arts Center hours are: Monday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Tuesday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and 3:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday 3:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
