Bruin netters lose to Adams Central
Blackford’s girls’ volleyball team struggled the first two sets but pulled it together for a close third set in a loss to Adams Central. Paige Maloney led the Bruins with 10 digs, Ashley Willmann had 3 Aces and Faith Maloney led them in pass receiving.
Bruin netters lose to Bluffton
The varsity volleyball team played a tough match against a taller Bluffton team. Lilee Lamotte and Ashley Willmann led the team in aces with 2 each, and Ashley Willmann led the team with 8 digs.
Bruin netters rally past Elwood
Blackford’s girls’ volleyball team defeated Elwood in a hard 5 set match. The girls were down in the 5th set but battled back to take the win. Paige Maloney and Ashley Willmann led the team with 5 aces each. Lilee Lamotte led the team with 9 kills and 7 digs.
Seventh graders lose to Elwood
The 7th grade girls volleyball team fell short of beating their opponent, Elwood, on Thursday evening. Haylee Light lead the night with 4 points, followed by Jaelyn McCaffery and Maleah Limle earning 2 points a piece. Jaelyn Morris and Jaelyn McCaffery each had 2 kills during the evening. The team showed lots of improvement and will hope that momentum of growth continues during their next match on Tuesday, September 3rd.
Seventh graders defeated by West Jay
The 7th grade girls volleyball team hosted West Jay for their opening match on Tuesday, August 27th. Jaelyn Morris lead the team with 7 points followed by Alicia Juarez with 4 points.
The team is comprised of: Jayden Cox, Maleah Limle, Patience Robinette, Jaelyn Morris, Jaelyn McCaffery, Alicia Juarez, Lilliana Yoder, Emma Strait, Nevaeh Karbach, Cheyanne Rose, Ali Crouse, Haylee Light, and Adrianna Hall.
Their coach, Rachael Banter, states, “I’m more than excited for this season! We have lots of talent to work with and the positive attitudes of all the girls will make my first year coaching memorable. Let’s go Lady Bruins!”
Eighth graders fall to Elwood
The 8th grade volleyball team (0-2) lost their second match to Elwood 25-27 and 15-25. Leading the team in serves was Natalie Dillon with 9, Gracie LaMotte with 5, and Sydnee Morris with 4. Olivia Carroll played a great defensive game. The girls played hard and are improving everyday. Coach Lisa Davis, shared, “All the girls made great contributions to the match and are making improvement daily. There are still things that we need to work on as a team, but I am very excited at what I am seeing.”
The Lady Bruins will host Southern Wells on Tuesday, September 3. The 7th grade game begins at 6:00.
