In March 2019, the Hartford City Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol earned one of two top spots in the state, along with the Valparaiso Composite Squadron, to compete in the six-state regional competition, comprised of uniform preparation and inspections, physical fitness, indoor and outdoor color guard, and a knowledge bowl. In May, cadets Breanna Austin, Jonathon Green, Savannah Hamilton, David Holst, Connor Miller, and Graiden Miller formed the regional competition team, supported by cadets Cassie Guffey, Austin Wolfe, and Nathan Wolfe, as well as senior members Tammy Hamilton, Jen Holst, Jacqueline Miller, Jay Miller, and Kim Wolfe. The team performed well in several categories, taking top honors in Outdoor Presentation. The team is proud to support the Valparaiso unit, which won the competition overall and will represent the region at the national level.
