On Saturday, the Blackford Club Bowling Team bowled its second-to-last regular season meet and final meet of individual games of the season. The Bruins lost 19-1 to a tough Wapahani team. Wapahani came out of the gates swinging with Luke Willmann shooting a 266 in game 1 and Issac Jackson shooting a 279, just one 9-spare away from a perfect game.
Tough lane conditions caused the Bruins to struggle on adjustments and ball changes early on, leading to the loss.
Cody Cook : 112, 145 (169 Season Average)
Gabe Foster: 203, 190 (179 Season Average)
Donovan Wilson: 176, 135 (173 Season Average)
Mason Quillen: 151, 152 (133 Season Average)
Autumn Dollier: 103, 124 (109 Season Average)
Wapahani shot team scores of 1034 and 936, for an average of 197 per player, per game. Blackford shot 745 and 746 on the day.
Coach Blake Dollier said, “Today was a tough day, (but) one we can learn a lot and bounce back even stronger.
We missed a lot of uncharacteristic spares across the board. Gabe (Foster), Mason (Quillen) and Autumn (Dollier), in game two, did a solid job of bowling above their averages, but sometimes it’s tough when your opponents are shooting 260’s and 270s.
“We’re going to be bowling a lot of spares in tomorrow’s practice and are going to come ready to compete next week during Bakers. We’re looking forward to senior day and postseason coming up. I’m hoping to send as many of our bowlers to regionals as possible.”
The Bruins fell to 2-7 on the year. We are sitting at 5th out of 6 in the conference but have the third highest team average per game.
Muncie Central: 922
The Bruins will pick back up next week to finish the regular season at the Northside Lanes on Saturday, February 20th. The format for that match will be Baker games whereby each bowler bowls two frames per game.
This match will be for the position round to determine our standings to end the season.
