Last June, Casey Dick took to social media to get the communities input on the idea of a drive thru convenience store. A majority of those who participated in the poll said, “I would defiantly use it!” Little did they know, Dick had already been brewing some ideas of opening one right here in Hartford City. After extensive planning and finding the right location, Dick is making his dream come to reality by opening a drive thru convenience store, The Pit Stop.
The Pit Stop will be located at 312 N. Walnut Street in Hartford City. It will carry the basic essentials that you can find at your local convenience store but you won’t have to get out of your vehicle to shop that is unless you would like to park and utilize the designated customer walk in area. Talk about convenience! This is the ideal convenience store for those who just need to grab a few things while out but have difficulty getting in and out of their vehicle, parents/guardians with younger children or the average Joe who has simply had a long day and doesn’t want to walk around and stand in line for a few quick items.
Dick states, “this is something we have wanted to see in Hartford City for a long time and we are excited to finally make it happen.”
The Blackford County Economic Development Corporation announced a ground breaking ceremony that will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. located at the upcoming location of The Pit Stop, 312 N. Walnut Street. BCEDC said they are “excited to finally see this project begin and hope to have a good show of support for local small business!”
Casey Dick was born, raised, and continues to reside in Blackford County. He graduated from Blackford High School in 2009 and started up a local construction business, D Squared, in 2018. Dick’s wife, Jayci, is also a Blackford County native who graduated from BHS in 2008. They have three children, Carter, Elaine and Tinley.
The Dick’s, “We look forward to serving the community that we are proud to be part of!”
