The Pit Stop is a new business being built in town which will be located at 312 N. Walnut Street in Hartford City. The business is a drive thru convenience store. Owner, Casey Dick, stated at the ground breaking ceremony that he hopes to have the business up and running towards the beginning of July but that the date will be dictated by the weather.
The Pit Stop will carry the basic essentials that you can find at your local convenience store but you won’t have to get out of your vehicle to shop that is unless you would like to park and utilize the designated customer walk in area. Talk about convenience! This is the ideal convenience store for those who just need to grab a few things while out but have difficulty getting in and out of their vehicle, parents/guardians with younger children or the average Joe who has simply had a long day and doesn’t want to walk around and stand in line for a few quick items.
Even though it was a rainy day, the ground breaking ceremony still took place and had a good-sized crowd come out to welcome the new business into the community as well as many vehicles honking as they passed by.
Mayor Ben Hodgin gave a speech where he thanked Dick for his efforts and vision to bring a new business to town. He then wished Dick great success.
Dick stated he is trying to “put some good back in the community and get some more business running along here making the highway look better.”
The Blackford County Economic Development Corporation says they are “thrilled to help another small business take shape!”
Casey Dick was born, raised, and continues to reside in Blackford County. He graduated from Blackford High School in 2009 and started up a local construction business, D Squared, in 2018.
