Hartford City, IN – IU Health ECR has selected Jeanie Blakely, Blackford Hospital, to be its 2020 recipient of The PHIL Award. This annual award is part of The Faces Foundation’s program to recognize exemplary respiratory care. The PHIL Award is the only nationally recognized hospital-based program that honors outstanding respiratory therapists, as nominated by patients, their family members, and other caregivers.
Jeanie was nominated by Brenda Cross, RN; Lisa Chapman, RN; Kiri Coughlin, RN; Monica Gaither and Dr. Charles Carroll. Dr. Carroll had this to say of Jeanie, “I have had the great privilege of working with Jeanie both in the Emergency and Medical Surgical departments for over ten years. During all of this time, she has always shown the utmost respect and the highest level of care, compassion and professionalism to patients, their families and the medical team she works with.”
“We are proud to partner with The FACES Foundation to recognize and honor our outstanding Respiratory Therapists,” said ECR Respiratory Services Director, Russell Webb. “This exemplary professional sees the ‘person’ instead of the ‘patient’; and is committed to the belief that every breath matters. It’s important that our Respiratory Therapists know their work is highly valued, and The PHIL Award provides a way for us to do that”.
Each year, IU Health ECR will select one Respiratory Therapist from all of the nominations received. During an award presentation, the honoree is presented with a certificate and award sculpture entitled Appreciation, which was adapted by create MK Shannon especially for The PHIL Award.
