    Blackford’s junior high baseball team defeated Marion in game one of a doubleheader 16-4. Carson Smith went 1-1 and scored three runs to lead the team. Evan Charnley, Nate Lemle, and Derrick Elliott each added a hit and scored twice.

    Lemle pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing four runs on a hit. He struck out three and walked five. Eli Martin pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing no runs on no hits. He struck out four and walked one. Both games were five inning contests.

    The Bruins took game two, 7-5. Carson Smith went 3-3 to lead the team. Chris King and Cody Jones each went 1-1. Derrick Elliott and Gavin Collett each scored twice. Eli Martin, Kaleb Patrick and Cody Jones all scored once.

    Gavin Collett pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up four runs on three hits. He struck out two and walked four. Evan Charnley pitched 1 1/3 inning allowing a run on no hits. He fanned two and walked five. Carson Smith pitched 1 1/3 inning and allowed no runs on no hits. He struck out out two and walked one.

    The Bruins head to Wes-Del on Wednesday for a 5:30 pm contest. That game is the opener of the ECI Tourney. If the Bruins win, they will play on Saturday at Wapahani High School.
