The Bruin boys’ Cross Country team won the Blue River Invite Saturday morning. They were led by Junior Drew Caldwell, senior Brayden Roberts and sophomore Noah Kitterman who placed 2nd, 4th and 8th, respectively.

Also scoring for the team were junior Lance Manley and senior Cameron Rinker, who both finished in the top 20.  Freshman Donavan Osborn and junior Kendall Scher rounded out the top seven Bruin runners.

Running a great first race were juniors Dane Baker and Kendall Scher, sophomore Todd Thornburgh and freshman Eli Martin.

The Lady Bruins were led by freshman Cami Caldwell who finished fourth. She was followed by senior Natalie Thurman, and sophomores Ruby Slentz and Sami Williamson, who placed 12th, 14th and 16th respectively.

Running a great first race for the ladies were freshman Allie Jacobs and senior Natalie Blakely. The ladies team finished third.

“This morning was a great start to the season!  Blue River has a rolling course with lots of turns and woods.  It’s a fun and challenging course to start with. The men knew they had the ability to win this race and have had that as a goal since finishing second last year. Even though the number of schools participating had doubled, the men were up to the challenge.

“Individually, I was pleased with how each runner both started and finished today’s race. Their efforts and attitudes were top notch. We are looking forward to watching each one continue to improve over the next couple months,” Coach Caldwell stated.
