Blackford Bruins.jpg

The varsity wrestling team finished 0-5 Saturday at the Wabash County Invitational to fall to 0-12 on the season.

Unfortunately, the Bruins were short a couple of their wrestlers, and another got sick during the meet. Evan Watt went 5-0 and won the individual title at 132! Ethan Watt (160) and Isaac Justice (152) each finished second at 4-1 in their respective classes.

The Bruins are giving their all and making improvements, but they are still giving up 24-30 points a match due to not being able to put a wrestler on the mat at 106, 113, 126, 195 and 220.

If the Bruins had wrestlers to fill those positions, the Bruins could possibly be 6-6 based on Coach Garringer’s best guess.

Hopefully, the Bruins can fill those spots next year or even sooner. Regardless, great effort by the Bruins who are wrestling.
