The Silver Lining opportunity store is a blessing in disguise to some parents with children five years and younger throughout Blackford County. This store is located in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church at 117 West Franklin Street in Hartford City. It is open on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. You earn coupon cards by attending appointments and programs at select locations. The items are not for sale with any other form of payment then the coupon cards themselves. There are no income restrictions to participate in this program.
A few of the locations are both Hartford City and Montpelier libraries, WIC, Healthy Families, Community Partners Program, Title 4 Programs, Headstart, Early Headstart Carey Services, Extension Program, Blackford Medical Group, Mentor Moms, The Eye Associates, Blackford County Health Department, Born To Learn Program, The Circles Program, Southside Elementary School, and Montpelier Elementary School.
You use the coupons to get items for your children such as new and gently used clothing, diapers, pull- ups, underwear, socks, safety gear, hygiene products, blankets, crib bedding sets, strollers, potty chairs, bibs, sippy cups, bottles, nursing items and much more. Actual items in stock each month depend on funding and donations. As little as one coupon card will get you items and you can save your coupon cards for up to one year from the date they were issued to get bigger items.
The Silver Lining program is sponsored by Community and Family Services, run by kind hearted volunteers, and depends on grants and donations. The program was started with a grant from the Blackford Community Foundation and Wow. To get started with the Silver Lining program just simply visit one of the locations listed and ask how you can start earning coupon cards.
