The Lady Bruins got beat 56-26 against South Adams. In the first quarter the Lady Bruins fell behind 19-8. The second quarter didn’t go any better for the Blackford as they were unable to score falling behind 27-8. The Lady Bruins worked hard in the 3rd scoring 13, but it was too little too late for the Lady Bruins.
Coach Mitch Waters said, “We talked about 3 things we needed to do in order to have success. They included: limit turnovers, control the basketball, and play good defense. Unfortunately, we came up short in all of them. South Adams came with a completely different approach to the game than what we have seen all season and it really rattled our girls tonight. We talked about it and figured that’s what we would see, but I didn’t do a good enough job as a coach simulating it in practice. I’ll take the loss on my shoulders, because our girls played scared and my only thought is because we didn’t do enough at practice to handle their pressure better. The upside is, a lot of girls played tonight and got some varsity experience. I was very impressed by the efforts of Kiley Eppard, Cayley Hodges, Macy Cagle, and Alexa Hurd (Who just came back from injury) They all gave everything they had and didn’t back down!
Leading Scorers for the Bruins were: Olivia Leas 13; Olivia Waters 7; Grace Simmons 2; Alexa Hurd 2;; Cayley Hodges and Erin Cagle added 1 each
Leading Rebounders (unofficial) – Jaycie Sones 5; Reaghan Harding 4
Lady Bruins fall to 2-2 next up they play Yorktown at home next Friday, November 22 @ 7:30 pm.
